What a way to finish off the year -- being honored with the 1969 Most Valuable Player Award in the Sub League 1. It had already been a very special season for Mesa's Jeff Conine, but today's announcement really put the icing on his cake.

All season long Jeff Conine gave opposing pitchers fits by hitting .334 as he collected 140 hits, 24 doubles, 2 triples, 36 home runs and 98 RBIs.

He received 16 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Gleyber Torres of the Mesa Prairie Thunder finished second in voting, while Eli Marrero of the Pawtucket Red Sox finished third.
