Diaz Grabs SL1 Reliever of the Year Award

He may only be 21, but Edwin Diaz of the Mesa Prairie Thunder has already established himself as one of the elite relievers in the Sub League 1.

The reliever was today named the SL1 Reliever of the Year Award winner for 1969.

He won the award with a strong year that saw him put up 8 saves in 52 relief appearances and 160 strikeouts in 77.1 innings. He had a record of 5-2 to go with his 1.98 ERA.

He received 16 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Adam Butler of the Pawtucket Red Sox finished second in voting, while Mike Mohler of the Mesa Prairie Thunder finished third.
