Marrero Awarded August's SL1 Top Bat Prize Monday, September 1st, 1969 For a rookie just breaking in, Eli Marrero certainly put together a successful month. It was good enough to win the SL1 Batter of the Month award for August. The 25-year-old catcher for the Pawtucket Red Sox hit .368 with 10 home runs, 26 RBIs and 24 runs scored. Looking at his present stats, Marrero has compiled a .336 batting average in 79 games with a .416 on-base percentage, while hitting 26 home runs and driving in 67 runs. |
