Veteran Kingman Hits Three Dingers
Saturday, August 30th, 1969
In a powerful performance that left the fans at Ballpark of Colorado Springs buzzing, Kendall West Nailers first baseman Dave Kingman blasted a trio of home runs en route to a 10-3 win over the Colorado Springs Fusion.
"Everything was clicking," Kingman told the press. "My timing was good and I got pitches I could handle and I didn't miss them."
Kingman shined brilliantly in the win, with 3 hits in 5 at-bats, 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
"It's not just one guy, it's everybody," Nailers manager said. "Dave played great but it takes more than one guy to win a game."
Dave Kingman flied out in the 2nd, grounded out in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off John Jackson in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Jim Hayes in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Larry Bearnarth in the 9th.
This year Kingman is hitting .198 with 63 hits, 32 home runs, 64 RBIs and has scored 51 runs.
