Wild Card Clinched by Red Sox
Tuesday, August 26th, 1969
With a position in the playoffs as a wild card winner now secured, the Pawtucket Red Sox are looking to prove doubters wrong.
"People are going to say we're not good enough, or that we can't win a World Series, but we know that's not true," said catcher Eli Marrero. "The guys are celebrating this tonight and then it's back to business and back to focusing on winning a championship."
A World Series win would be the team's 4th in franchise history.
