SL1 Star of the Week Honored Monday, August 18th, 1969 It's always a thrill for fans of the team and students of the game alike when a superstar in the making shows what he's got. Eli Marrero, the Pawtucket Red Sox 25-year-old catcher, put himself in the spotlight last week making him the clear-cut choice for Sub League 1 Player of the Week honors. He ripped 9 hits in 15 at-bats, compiling a .600 average with 5 home runs and 9 RBIs. This year Marrero is batting .335 with 22 home runs and 54 RBIs. |
