Nailers Washburn Has 15 Ks Saturday, August 16th, 1969 Led by an outstanding performance from starter Jarrod Washburn, the Kendall West Nailers topped the Bridgeport Bluefish today by a score of 8-1 at Nailers Ballpark. The 23-year-old Washburn brought his top game to the mound, striking out 15 batters while allowing 2 hits and giving up 2 walks. "He made a lot of good pitches out there," Bluefish manager said. "He made some of our guys look bad. We didn't help matters, but we really have to give him credit -- he didn't make many mistakes." To this point in the season Washburn has 14 wins and 8 losses and a 3.63 ERA. |
