No Hits for Sanchez, Streak Ends at 23 Saturday, August 9th, 1969 The hitting streak that Durham designated hitter Alex Sanchez had kept going for 23 games was ended today by the Newark Bears. Sanchez was stymied over 3 at-bats today, but the rest of his team picked him up, taking the 4-2 victory at Destroyers Ballpark. "Hitting streaks come and go," Sanchez said. "It did put a little pressure on me. It's hard to be natural at the plate with something like that always in the back of your mind. If it had to end, I'm glad it was in a win." Currently Sanchez has 5 home runs and a .274 batting average. |
