Super Swinger -- Block Slams 5 Hits Monday, July 28th, 1969 It was a big day for Cy Block and he brought the Huntington Beach Bengals along for the ride. Block led his club to a 18-6 victory over the Memphis Redbirds today at Aviators Ballpark, smoking Memphis pitching for 5 hits in 6 at-bats. The 24-year-old third baseman later called the victory "sweet." Cy Block singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Samuel Deduno in the 5th, singled in the 6th, hit a two-run triple in the 7th and struck out in the 9th. Block is swinging at a .226 pace on the year with 2 home runs, 21 RBIs and 17 runs scored. He has played in 52 games. |
