Veteran Demeter Hits Three Dingers
Thursday, July 11th, 1968
Fans are still buzzing after Rock City whipped the Madison Velocity by the score of 7-2 today at Ballpark of Madison.
Don Demeter smashed three home runs in the contest, a feat that would be a career highlight for most players and few fans ever see. In a tremendous performance, the left fielder bashed out 3 hits in 4 at-bats, had 6 RBIs and scored 3 times.
At the postgame press conference, Demeter said it was an "unbelievable" feeling to hit three home runs in a game.
"Getting one homer is special, and two is great," Demeter said. "Three is just... wow."
Don Demeter struck out in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Edwin Jackson in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Edwin Jackson in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Eury De La Rosa in the 7th and walked in the 9th.
For the year Demeter has hit .281 with 22 home runs, 62 RBIs and scored 47 runs.
